Memories of My Life in Law Enforcement
I'm thrilled to have helped birth my dad's memoir as editor, book designer, and publisher at my one woman operation: Annas Bay Books.
My dad has been a storyteller and writer since I was young, and he finished the manuscript of Badge of Honor 10 years ago while I was earning my MFA in Creative Writing. It has been a long wait for this dream of his to come to fruition, and a blessing to have immersed myself in his world and words.
My dad's writing has appeared in dozens of newsletters, newspapers, and magazines including the FBI Journal. He has won multiple awards from the Erle Stanley Gardner Murder Mystery Writers Contest and is included in the anthology Felons, Flames, and Ambulance Rides.
Duane and my stepmom, Judy, live in Temecula where they've been active in the community for 25 years. The photo above is the three of us at my dad's retirement party.
Both my dad and stepmom owe their lives to the City of Hope, and all royalties from Badge of Honor will benefit the City of Hope research and treatment center for cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Badge of Honor is a loving look back at the very human and often lighthearted adventures of an eager, smart, and playful young deputy who joins the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in 1961 and works his way up the ranks over the next thirty-four years, retiring as Assistant Sheriff in 1995. Through it all, he never loses his sense of humor or connection to officers on the beat—for it was patrol cops who sparked his childhood dream of becoming a cop himself. Buckle up for an enjoyable ride-along with Duane Preimsberger and his fellow sheriffs through stories of courage, compassion, commitment, and comedy.
